Rumah Shalom Sharing of XMAS Joy - 9th December 2006 |

IDS Malaysia
in its inaugural CSR initiative hosted a Christmas Lunch
for a group of less fortunate children from Rumah Shalom
(Shalom is a Hebrew word and it means wholeness, completeness,
unbroken, serenity as well as prosperity). Rumah Shalom
houses children from broken homes or abandoned by their
parents whose age ranges from 5 to 13 years
To reaffirmed our commitment as a responsible corporate
citizen, we initiated the charity drive with the theme
"A RINGGIT A DAY KEEPS A
CHILD SMILING ALL THE WAY" , and collected
money, toys, books, clothes and stationery from our
staff. The staff responded wholeheartedly and some staff
even volunteered to put up a performance for the children.
The children waited for us patiently since 9am wearing
the T-shirt with the inscription - "IDS LOVES YOU".
The children had in store their own performance for
all of us and they provided us with a heart-rending
performance of songs like "You Are My Sunshine",
"Smile Like A Sunshine" and many other Christmas
songs. |

From IDS, Ong Chong
Beng started the event with a Christmas song together
with all IDS staffs. Some children asked us what is
IDS (Integrated Distribution Services) and after telling
them and getting them to repeat it, whoever got us right,
were presented with RM10.00. The highlight was the presentation
of various gifts by the Managing Directors. Our staff
was so generous that many of them came with additional
gifts on that day itself. Each child has a minimum of
4 gifts each. |

We saw
so many smiling faces especially when the children opened
up their gifts and enjoyed the Malaysian delicacy served
especially Sate.

Many
of our volunteers expressed that they now have a better
awareness and understanding about the livelihood of
the underprivileged and their children. They felt they
have created a big impact by touching the hearts of
the less fortunate and under privileged when they saw
the glow of happiness.
At the end of it all, it is a day well spent as every
child was happy and we were able to bring joy into their
hearts, this is enough for us at IDS Malaysia. To all
those who have contributed one way or another, we would
like to say a big "Thank You" and may we also
take this opportunity to wish you and your family,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year . |
